Rest Period

Servant leadership is so important, so aspirational, so ambitious, we must take time to rest. This week the purpose of my blog is simply to remind you that great leaders rest.

“Everything needs a break.”
~ Toba Beta
“It is the joy of work well done that enables us to enjoy rest, just as it is the experiences of hunger and thirst that make food and drink such pleasures.”
~ Elisabeth Elliott
“Wisdom is knowing when to have rest, and when to have activity, and how much of each to have.”
~ Ravi Shankar
“A day of rest is the refusal to let one’s life be defined by production and consumption and the endless pursuit of private well-being.”
~ Walter Brueggemann

  1. What a beautiful posting! I just reached a major milestone on a project I was helping turn around and when asked what I am going to do next, I said just take it easy for the remainder of the year. I am going to use the time to reflect and do some forward thinking. One person I said this to, was shocked that I would be excited to take a break, however, it is by taking breaks I am able to master my skills. What a timely post to confirm that my decision to take a break is best thing I can do for my team.

    Love it!
